Maulvi, Hafiz and Imam will not be able to charge more than 1100 rupees for reading Nikah in Chhattisgarh. Actually, Chhattisgarh Waqf Board has fixed the fee for reading Nikah.

According to this, now those who read Nikah will not be able to charge more than 1100 rupees. At the same time, the minimum fee has been fixed at 11 rupees. Chhattisgarh Waqf Board has issued an order to all Mutawallis in this regard. In the order issued, Chhattisgarh Waqf Board has said that complaints are being received from many places that Maulvi, Hafiz and Imam are charging arbitrary amount for reading Nikah, which is against Islam and Shariat. The board has said that we have to make Nikah easy so that the children of poor and helpless families do not have to bear the financial burden. Whatever amount the family gives voluntarily in exchange for performing the Nikah, accept it. The board has clearly said that the amount for Nikah should be fixed from Rs. 11 to Rs. 1100 as a gift and it should be followed. Otherwise, action will be taken against the Mutawallis.
