STF Busts Major Inter-State Drug Trafficking Network in Lucknow, Seizes MDMA Worth ₹80 Lakh

Lucknow: The Special Task Force (STF) has carried out a major operation against an inter-state drug trafficking network in Lucknow. Acting on specific intelligence, the STF arrested two traffickers traveling in a Tata Safari near Gabbar Dhaba on Sultanpur Road in the Gosainganj area. The team recovered 523 grams of the banned drug MDMA from their possession, valued at nearly ₹80 lakh. According to officials, the STF team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharmesh Kumar Shahi had been closely monitoring the activities of drug traffickers operating in the region. The team received a tip-off that two smugglers were transporting a large consignment of drugs in a Safari SUV. Acting swiftly, the STF set up a trap and arrested the suspects around 9 AM on Wednesday.

During interrogation, the accused were identified as Mohammad Mujeeb, a resident of Lodhipurwa Khandari Bazaar, Lalbagh, and Mukesh Singh from Suriyawan, Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi).

The arrested traffickers revealed that they were part of a gang supplying MDMA across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Mumbai, and Bihar. Mujeeb, the alleged mastermind, reportedly manufactured MDMA at his residence by mixing different chemicals.

Mujeeb further confessed that he learned to produce the drug from Abhay Singh, a resident of Varanasi. Singh had previously been arrested in Mumbai for possessing MDMA and was recently released from jail. The seized drug consignment was being transported from Lucknow to Varanasi under the coordination of Abhay Singh, his brother Anuj, and Mukesh.

Wide Supply Network Across Multiple States

The traffickers admitted they had been preparing and supplying MDMA according to demand in several districts of Uttar Pradesh and other states. Following the STF operation, a case has been registered against the arrested accused under the NDPS Act at Gosainganj Police Station.
