Major decision of the Council of Ministers: The families of the policemen martyred in Naxal violence now have the option of compassionate appointment in other departments as well

Family members of martyrs will get the option to choose department, thanks to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai ji – Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma

Raipur. The state government has taken an important and humanitarian decision in the interest of the families of police personnel martyred in Naxalite violence. Recently, the Council of Ministers has approved the amendment in clause 13(3) of “Ekjai Revised Compassionate Appointment Directive-2013”.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that martyrs are the invaluable heritage of our society. They have protected the state and the country by sacrificing their lives. It was not fair to give only optionless appointment to their families. For a long time, we have placed this demand of martyr families before the government with full seriousness. I am happy that the Council of Ministers, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai ji, has passed this decision. Now the families of the martyrs will get the right to choose the department, which will ensure both their convenience and respect.

Giving information, he said that according to this amendment, now compassionate appointment to the family members of police servants martyred in Naxalite violence will not be limited to the police department only, but they will be able to get compassionate appointment in any department of the state government, in any district or division. Earlier, there was a provision that compassionate appointment should be given in the same department in which the deceased government servant was serving. But keeping in mind the continuous demand of the families of the martyrs, the state government has amended this policy and provided this option.

On the initiative of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, this decision was presented before Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai ji in the cabinet meeting.

It is worth mentioning that Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma was constantly receiving the demand from the martyr families and their organizations that they should not be compulsorily appointed in the police department, but should also get options in other departments. Due to the sensitivity and activism of the Deputy Chief Minister, this subject was brought in the cabinet and the decision was passed unanimously.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that the martyr families of the state had demanded compassionate appointment in other departments along with appointment in the police department. Now this path has been opened for them, which will provide them with an opportunity for respectable and convenient employment. This decision is not only an act of honouring the sacrifice of the martyrs, but is also a proof of the sensitivity and responsibility of the government towards their families.
