ED’s big action in Chhattisgarh, property worth crores of former minister Lakhma and son seized

The Enforcement Directorate has taken a big action on Friday in the liquor scam. ED has seized Congress Bhawan along with the property of former minister Kawasi Lakhma. ED has seized property worth Rs 5.50 crore of Kawasi Lakhma, his son Harish Lakhma.

Apart from this, property worth Rs 65 lakh of the Congress office located in Sukma has been attached. According to ED, Kawasi Lakhma has received a total illegal amount of Rs 72 crore as proceeds of crime. Out of this amount, ₹4.60 crore has been used in building construction and travel expenses.

The ED order mentions that Kawasi Lakhma has deliberately received, acquired, possessed and used the proceeds of crime, which was earned from the liquor scam. Efforts were made to show this amount as legitimate money and the remaining money was hidden so that enforcement agencies could not trace it.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Kawasi Lakhma had bought 375 square meters (4035 sqft) of land in MLA Colony in Puraina, Raipur from Chhattisgarh Housing Board for about four lakhs, whose value as per the current government circle rate is estimated to be 93.75 lakhs.

According to the ED order, 100% land and 71.33% of the constructed building of the Raipur property and the remaining 28.67% of the building area have been attached as the value equal to the proceeds of crime. Similarly, 85% of the area of ​​the property located in Sukma has been seized as it was built from the proceeds of crime. The ED order states that it is completely justified to temporarily seize these properties.
