Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma and Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap held a meeting for the operation of TRIFED’s Food Park

Jagdalpur 12 June 2025/ The Trifood project is to be implemented by TRIFED of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, with the help of the district administration in collaboration with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. The objective of Trifood is to increase the income of tribals through better utilization and value addition of minor forest produce collected by tribal forest collectors. To achieve this goal, the Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Home Minister and Minister in charge of Bastar district, Shri Vijay Sharma and Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap held a meeting in the meeting hall of Trifed’s Trifood Park located at Semra near Jagdalpur city and discussed in detail for the operation of Trifood Park. It is known that Trifed has prepared Trifood Park in Semra Jagdalpur at a cost of 8.20 crores. Its gross area is about 21.55 acres, in which plots are established in 4.36 acres.
It is noteworthy that this food park established by Trifed in Jagdalpur Bastar is a major processing unit of forest produce and local products, in which raw material (especially minor forest produce) will be taken from Vandhan Kendras and local tribal farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP) and its processing will be done, production, packaging and branding will be done. In the meeting, systematic operation of this food park and future action plan were discussed. Trifed official told in the meeting that there is a plan to do honey processing, cashew processing, tamarind processing, seasonal fruits and spices processing in this food park, along with cold storage facility has also been kept.
Home Minister Shri Sharma said that by forming a cooperative society of the natives of Bastar, arrangements should be made for the supply of raw material for the food park. Give priority in processing local products like tamarind, mahua, mango, cashew, sal seeds in the food park. In the meeting, a committee was formed to select the operator of the institute and the public representatives and officials present also discussed the different suggested models for operation.
The Forest Minister said that a professional team will be required to operate the unit. He instructed to prepare a detailed action plan by taking information about the processing of local products in other states operated by TRIFED or through other institutions. He talked about giving priority to those working in this type of field. Chitrakot MLA Shri Vinayak Goyal, District Panchayat President Smt. Vedvati Kashyap, former Minister Shri Mahesh Gagda, Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department Shri Bhim Singh, former MD of TRIFED Shri Praveen Krishna, Bastar IG Shri Sundarraj P., Collector Shri Haris S, SP Shri Shalabh Kumar Sinha, Deputy General of TRIFED Smt. Mamta Sharma, Regional Manager Prabhakar Khadane and other officials and public representatives were present in the meeting.
After the meeting, Minister-in-charge Mr. Sharma and Forest Minister Mr. Kashyap inspected the machines installed in the processing unit. They also talked about starting the institute as soon as possible. They stressed the need to speed up the work by changing the equipment required for processing local products in the machines.
