Chhattisgarh ration card holders will get three months’ ration at once, distribution will start after two days, government is celebrating ‘Rice Festival’
‘Rice Festival’ will be organized in Chhattisgarh from 01 to 07 June 2025. During this festival, rice for the months of June, July and August will be distributed in lump sum to more than 81 lakh ration card holder families of the state.
For this purpose, the state government has issued allocation of rice to 13,928 fair price shops of the state. The storage of rice in all the shops is going on rapidly so that there is no hindrance in distribution. With this initiative, timely food availability can be ensured in remote and rural areas. According to the instructions issued by the State Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, distribution of rice will be ensured from all fair price shops during the Rice Festival from June 1 to June 7. On this occasion, display of distribution related information in the shops has been made mandatory. Collectors of all districts have been directed to widely disseminate information about rice distribution through various publicity mediums at the local level, so that this information reaches every beneficiary easily and the distribution remains transparent.
Food Department Secretary Reena Babasaheb Kangale, in a review meeting with all the District Collectors, Food Officers and District Managers of Civil Supplies Corporation through video conference today on 28 May for the preparation of ‘Chawal Utsav’, directed that proper storage of rice should be ensured in every fair price shop before time. Rice should be distributed in the presence of the shop level monitoring committee, and every beneficiary should receive rice only after biometric authentication through e-POS machine. Also, acknowledgement receipt of rice distributed to the beneficiaries should be given compulsorily.
Food Secretary Kangale said that the objective of this overall process is to ensure transparency, accountability and convenience of the beneficiary. Effective use of technology is also being ensured by the department. During monsoon, special preparations have also been made for 249 such fair price shops of the state, which become inaccessible during the rainy season. Instructions have been given to complete the process of advance rice storage in these shops in the month of June itself, so that ration distribution can continue uninterrupted even during the rainy season.
Managing Director of Civil Supplies Corporation Kiran Kaushal and Director of Food Department Ramesh Sharma were present in the meeting. Apart from this, Collectors, Food Controllers, District Food Officers and District Managers of Civil Supplies Corporation of all the districts also participated through video conference.
