Like Akhilesh, will Tejaswi also replace his father… those 10 parties which are dominated by a single family

RJD National President News: Before the Bihar elections, RJD will elect a new national president. The names of Tejashwi Yadav, Misa Bharti and Manoj Jha are in discussion. But is RJD going to change the old history of the country’s 10 big regional parties this time?

Before the Bihar elections, the election of a new national president is to be held in RJD. From Tejashwi Yadav to Misa Bharti and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha, names are also being considered for the post of national president. But looking at the history of regional parties in India, it does not seem that the post of national president is going to go out of the Lalu family. The national presidents of the 10 major regional parties of the country have been from the same family. From UP, Bihar and Haryana-Punjab to Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, the national presidents of all regional parties have been from the same family. In such a situation, the big question is whether Tejashwi Yadav will follow his father’s tradition or will he set a new example in front of the history of regional parties?

Rashtriya Janata Dal founder Lalu Yadav has been the president since the formation of the party. Because, now his health is not well. In such a situation, discussion has started whether the future national president of RJD will be from Lalu Yadav’s family or will it be someone from outside? Like Akhilesh Yadav, will Tejashwi Yadav also replace Lalu Yadav and become the president? However, in some parties in the country, leaders have got other positions such as the position of state president to a person outside the family. But the position of national president has remained with the family only.

Will Tejasvi follow the tradition or set an example?

There has been a long history from NCP founder Sharad Pawar, YSR Congress founder Jaganmohan Reddy and Lok Janshakti Party founder Ram Vilas Paswan to his son Chirag Paswan. In Haryana, Chaudhary Devi Lal founded the Indian National Lok Dal in 1999. After Devi Lal, his son Om Prakash Chautala became the national president. The leadership of the party remained within the family and members of the Chautala family such as Abhay Singh Chautala and Ajay Singh Chautala held important positions. No one from outside the family ever became the national president.

What has been the history of regional parties?

Haryana Janhit Congress, the party of another veteran Haryana leader Bhajan Lal, also had the same history. After Bhajan Lal, his son Kuldeep Bishnoi took over the reins of the party. Similarly, Sharad Pawar founded the Nationalist Congress Party in 1999. Sharad Pawar is continuously becoming the national president. His daughter Supriya Sule and nephew Ajit Pawar play a major role in the party. However, in 2023, Ajit Pawar broke away and formed his own NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), of which he is the president.
