Tesla Entry in India: Tesla’s entry in India has been awaited for a long time. For the past several times, the company has been seen moving forward in this direction, a living proof of which is that Tesla has finalized the place in Mumbai for its first showroom in India and has also released vacancies for different locations. In such a situation, now the news has come that Tesla is not interested in setting up a manufacturing plant in India.
Union Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that Tesla is not interested in car manufacturing in India. HD Kumaraswamy said that the country is going to start accepting applications under its new electric vehicle manufacturing initiative. This move will show the readiness to implement the country’s new EV policy. Along with this, according to Heavy Industries Secretary Kamran Secretary, we will know the real intention when we open the applications.
What did Minister HD Kumaraswamy say? Kumaraswamy said that many European companies like Hyundai, Mercedes Benz, Skoda and Kia have shown interest in starting manufacturing plants in India under the new electric vehicle policy. Along with this, he said that this is something about which I cannot say anything.
The minister further said that Tesla is a public company, which is not our company. When I hear that BYD and other companies are coming to India. Tata and Mahindra are making great cars, then I would like to say why do we not have Tesla here, I cannot say anything more, because this is a personal point of view.
When will Tesla’s cars enter India?
Tesla can enter India by April next year. That is, next year the company can launch its first car in the Indian market. A few days ago, the company had filed homologation applications in India for Model Y and Model 3. If these applications are accepted, then Tesla will get approval to launch these cars in India.
