Adjustment of teachers in Chhattisgarh: Counseling of 1498 surplus teachers completed in 6 districts, new posting for more than 1500
The process of rational adjustment (rationalization) of teachers and schools is going on rapidly by the state government to strengthen the education system. In this sequence, the counseling process of 1498 surplus assistant teachers, head readers and lecturers has been completed in 6 districts of the state – Korba, Sukma, Mahasamund, Gariaband, Balodabazar and Surajpur.
So far, new posting orders have been issued to more than 1500 teachers.
Counseling of teachers was done on the basis of seniority, in which they selected schools of their choice from the vacant posts. This process is being considered a successful initiative of the rationalization policy of the government. Counseling is still going on in other districts like Mungeli, Rajnandgaon, Balod and Durg.
Out of the total 10,463 schools in the state, only 166 schools have been included in the adjustment. These include 133 rural schools, in which the number of students is less than 10 and another school is available within 1 kilometer. At the same time, the number of students in 33 urban schools is less than 30 and other schools are available within 500 meters. These schools are being adjusted with a view to providing better education, resources and environment to the students.
The important thing is that despite the adjustment, the remaining 10,297 schools will continue to operate as before. Internal adjustment is being done in these schools only from administrative and academic point of view. The use of school buildings will remain the same and teachers will also be provided as per requirement.
The objective of the state government is clear – where the number of students is high, more resources and teachers should be made available there. This will improve the quality of education and children will get facilities like subject-specialist teachers, labs, computers, libraries.
This adjustment will also benefit those children who were studying in schools with limited resources and less staff till now. Now they will be able to get education in better schools nearby. This will definitely improve the level of education in both rural and urban areas of the state.
