SDM Bakawand and the investigation team of the Mineral Department registered a case against 12 vehicles illegally transporting minor minerals.

Jagdalpur 26 May 2025/As per the instructions of Collector Shri Haris S, the investigation team of the Mineral Department conducted a surprise inspection of village Madpal, Upanpal, Lalbag Jagdalpur Kaviasna under Bastar district on 25 May 2025 and village Jamguda Farsaguda on 26 May and village Ulnar area on 23 May by Sub-Divisional Officer (R) Bakawand. On illegally transporting and excavating minor minerals sand, gravel, murum in 12 vehicles, a case was registered against the transporters and excavators and the vehicles were given into police custody. Mining Officer Shri Shikhar Cherpa informed that a case has been registered for sand excavation from 6 Hiva vehicles and one tractor vehicle, limestone excavation from two Hiva vehicles, gravel excavation from two tipper vehicles and one JCB excavation. As per above, all 12 vehicles have been seized along with minerals and handed over to police custody and action is being taken against the vehicle owners as per rules. During the above action, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Bakawand Shri Rishikesh Tiwari and Mining Officer of District Mineral Investigation Flying Squad Shri Shikhar Cherpa, Mining Inspector Shri Midul Guha and Mining Constable Shri Dikeshwar Khare, Shri Sitaram Netam, Shri Pachchipan were present. In all the above cases, punitive action is being ensured under Rule 71 of Chhattisgarh Minor Mineral Rules 2015 read with Section 21 of Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act 1957. Earlier also, through a press release, the mineral contractors and mineral transporters of the district were instructed that transporting minerals without a valid transit pass is a punishable offence. If the illegal transporter repeats such an act, punitive action will be taken by the Mineral Department.
